Roxy Williams is an Afro-Indigenous software engineer and Software Development Intern at Intel, nearing the completion of her Bachelor’s in Software Engineering at the Latin American University of Science and Technology in Costa Rica. Her mission is to drive inclusivity and technological empowerment for marginalized communities, focusing on the aerospace and technology sectors.Roxy is currently the Latin American Coordinator in Cosmos for Humanity. She served as a National Point of Contact of Nicaragua and then became the Regional Coordinator for North, Central America, and the Caribbean in the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC). Within SGAC she also leads DIVINAS (Diversity in Astronaut Selection), a long-term project promoting diversity in astronaut recruitment and she is also the Special Projects Lead in the NCAC Advocacy and Policy Task Force. As the founder of The Black Panthers, she empowers afrodescendents, indigenous, refugee, and stateless communities to engage in the space sector and leverage space technologies for community-driven development.In 2021, as Crew Commander with the Mars-Moon Aeronautics Academy Research Science (MMAARS), she led two teams in designing human settlements on the Moon and Mars. This analog astronaut experience enriched her understanding of extraterrestrial human settlement and space mission dynamics.Additionally, she led the Command and Data Handling and Communications teams in the Mercury Sample Return Mission and together with a team she worked on LEXAMUS, an AI-enabled lunar rover for surface mission support. Her research and technical contributions have earned her global recognition, including the IAF Emerging Space Leader Award and the SGAC Pioneer Award.Roxy is also a passionate public speaker, having presented at high-profile events such as COP28 in Dubai, where she spoke on using space technologies for climate resilience, and the International Astronautical Congress in multiple cities, sharing her research on space workforce development and astronaut diversity. Her dedication to inclusivity in STEM has also led her to inspire young audiences through platforms like Microsoft DigiGirlz and Texas Tech University in Costa Rica.Roxy has 12 research papers published by the International Astronautical Federation, covering topics from lunar healthcare to astronaut profile evolution.
