I recently relocated to London with my partner. First our flat fell through, then the job I had lined up did the same. Not the best start! But I’m a big believer in thinking positively.The flat we were initially so devastated about losing was soon replaced by a much nicer one, and yes, it’s a boat! The job situation is still being actively worked on. I’m currently dividing my time between temporary office-based assignments, and helping to run a gorgeous deli/wine bar in a leafy street in Hammersmith.It’s absolutely not how I thought my first few months in London would pan out, but it’s helped me realise how adaptable I can be. Years of experience in both sectors mean I’m an ideal fit for both, I have more transferable skills than I realised, and whether I’m an in an office or a deli I make a bloody good cup of coffee.Ultimately, I am on the hunt for something long-term. I want to find a company I can be part of until I retire. Five years from now, I would love to look back and think how much my role has grown, how much of a difference I’ve made, and what a positive impact I’ve had on my company and colleagues – precisely how it was at my last role.
