About Roy Palmer
Roy has been involved in the seafood industry since 1972; he has travelled extensively and is experienced in all post-harvest activities with training qualifications and has regular consultant activities. He works for/with many organisations through his consultancy and writes for numerous magazines, etc., and has excellent knowledge of Commercial Fishing, Fisheries and Aquaculture and is in regular demand to present at conferences and events.Roy is a believer in continuous improvement and in collaboration and always striving for innovative ways to improve himself and organisations he is engaged. He founded the Association of International Seafood Professionals and and remains a contributor with Aquaculture without Frontiers, which is simply fantastic work done by many volunteers who share their skills, knowledge and time to improve conditions for the poor who are struggling with hunger and malnutrition.In his 'spare time' he continues to help raise the profile and consumption of seafood and does that in many ways including being involved with Global Initiative of Life & Leadership through Seafood (GILLS), in getting seafood information out to the politicians, media and consumers. Roy has worked with the Mexican Government assisting them in increasing seafood consumption and worked for FAO on developing a strategy for seafood consumption in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.He believes that aquaculture will become recognised as the most important farming that the world does. Expanding his horizons by advising Prism Scientific Services, SOL Connect n Consult, Shrimpl and Blue Ocean Future.He was awarded the first Medal of Honor from the World Gastronomy Institute in 2019 and made an Honorary Life Member of World Aquaculture Society 2023.
