Responsibility for the oversight of the Aviva Investors relationship with Aviva Group funds managed from the UK and Ireland including ownership of the Financial Reporting Control Framework (FRCF) and managing all projects and accounting service deliverables outsourced to JP Morgan.Main duties include,• Operational and Financial Risk Management• Relationship Management with UK and Ireland Group Clients, • Coordination of all Group funds audit• Risk monitoring and reporting,• Change and project management, • Subject matter expert for investment and fund accounting

Recruited to oversee all financial/management reporting, investment management & control, budgeting and general financial operations of Aviva Re, with wider financial controller responsibility for the Norwich Union (NUI) reinsurance accounting function. Aviva Re Ltd is the Group general insurance captive; a legal entity domiciled in Bermuda, contributing significantly to Aviva results . All Aviva Re operational processes are outsourced to Heritage Underwriting and Investment Managers in Guernsey.Key achievements include :•Initiated and implemented a project to enhance investment controls and reporting; presented the objectives and deliverables to the investment committee, resulting in full support from all members Created risk control matrices for all financial and reporting processes, providing an overall picture of whether controls are met and indentified improvements required to enhance the control environment in order to satisfy the requirements FRCF/SOX•Managed the process of restructuring all Aviva Re management meetings; after consulting with CEO and peers, implemented changes to improve effectiveness, such as enhanced reports and involvement of all Aviva Re managers, resulting in better governance• Revised procedures for Asset Liability and FX Management saving GBP millions through•Led/ participated in change management programmes in NUI reinsurance and offshore( Sri Lanka)•Effectively managed all internal/external audit activities and Implemented development initiatives for all team members via regular face to face (1:1) discussions on how to achieve required competencies, based on detailed gap analysis.

Working within a complex matrix organisation with offices in London, Bermuda, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and the Isle of Man, this was a change management role encompassing leadership, team development and motivation, reinsurance operations, treasury and investment management, systems enhancement, financial planning and reportingReported directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and worked closely with the executive management team and other senior mangers/directors to enhance operations and ensure delivery of excellent customer service.Key achievements include•Key member of steering committee set up to scope a data warehousing project, in order to resolve issues of inconsistencies in data used for reporting by different functional areas, researched and advised on a number of methodologies at this forum, resulting in the formulation of a major project•Managed the preparation of quarterly reserving pack in conjunction with actuaries and worked closely to analyse technical results (premiums, claims incurred and reserves), and to explain business performance against plans/forecast to the reserving committee.•Prepared quarterly financial reports and agenda papers for Board meetings, including full reconciliation of accounts between head office, branches in Asia and 90% subsidiary in the Isle of Man. Board members commended enhanced controls, new and revised reports.•Boosted staff morale significantly with the automation of manual processes, allowing the team to spend more time understanding the business.
