I was a technical lead on a Scrum team developing a new external customer facing investment platform (www.retiready.co.uk/) based upon a responsive HTML5/CSS3 front end, a Java API middle-tier and GBST Composer backend, using Adobe CQ5 as a CMS. Primarily working on the API layer, I was also involved with front-end work and performing DevOps tasks.Key Achievements/Responsibilities- I designed and implemented cross-platform changes for the Retail Distribution Review, a >10,000 man-day project successfully completed within a tight timescale due to regulatory requirements- I contributed to development of a Service-Oriented Architecture through membership of Aegon's Service Governance and XML Governance board- I provided support to a Scrum team consisting of 3rd party staff, guiding them on technical matters, business analysis and Agile methodology- I was a member of a Lean Six Sigma working group to improve Aegon's technical review process, aiding in the design and roll-out of a stream-lined SharePoint based system which saved substantial manual effort and provided improved metrics and auditability

Primarily working in Production Support but also on a variety of technical and business facing projects, my role involved design, analysis and development work across a variety of systems, including Windows and Linux based systems and a IBM zSeries Mainframe, with a codebase covering a wide variety of languages including Java, C# (including ASP.NET MVC), Perl and COBOL, as well as proprietary 4GL systems. The nature of role involved closely liaising with stakeholders throughout the business.Key Achievements/Responsibilities- Designing, specifying and implementing performance improvements and defect fixes to both online and batch systems, most significantly as technical lead on a project that reduced the run-time of the overnight batch schedule by 2 hours, a 20% improvement.- Responsible for prioritising, analysing and resolving helpdesk within agreed SLAs, both by distributing to internal and 3rd party team members as appropriate and through progressing them myself- Worked as internal ISO 9001 auditor, examining both projects and IT department processes
