Lead developer and project manager for multiple releases of the data analysis platform for the Agilent TapeStation. This involved analyzing data all the way from initial data capture to final result for the customer, and required significant algorithm design. This required working with and managing a varied team including developers, testers, QA, customer support and marketing.I was promoted to Expert level in 2014, which Agilent describes as:"Specialized knowledge, skill; functional breadth, depth; technical leader, designer. Promotion to Expert level requires a business need– length of service alone is not sufficient."I managed multi-disciplinary application development projects whilst at Agilent, including the DIN (genomic DNA Integrity Number). For the DIN project I designed a novel approach using graph theory to quantify expert opinions on DNA quality to make the algorithm design quantitative I was the lead software engineer on the assay improvement project for the new generation of TapeStation assays. This included work on a unique algorithm to combine multi-dimensional data into a single signal trace.I’ve worked on or planned projects for a number of regulatory systems, including CLIA, GMP, GLP, ISO 9001, 21 CFR 11 and IQ/OQ

Agilent bought Lab901. This gave me access to large company infrastructure, allowing me to mix in the best bits of both multinational and startup. Agilent provides excellent training and resources, whilst the startup ethos provided for efficient and pragmatic working practices.

I worked as a software engineer on a custom data analysis platform to replace a third party tool. The data analysis platform was responsible for the majority of the business logic of the division, involved in image processing, signals processing and numerous domain specific algorithms. A significant part of the application was the WPF based UI, which i was in charge of for the first release.I was the lead developer for the in-house batch manufacturing control system and maintained it through significant scale-up as the small company I worked for (lab901) was purchased by Agilent Technologies. The system was being considered for replacement when i took over in 2008 but is currently still in use.
