I'm an academic lecturer, researcher and writer in architectural history and theory with a specialism in twentieth-century architecture. I teach architectural history and theory courses to students in architecture at the University of Bath, and I supervise masters dissertations in historic building conservation and PhD research students. I research and write for academic journals and books on architectural history, mainly on twentieth century British architecture, with an emphasis on the social, political and religious histories of buildings. I often give public lectures and write accessible articles for wider audiences. I photograph buildings and places to a professional standard as part of this work.Administrative service is also essential in my work in higher education. I am currently Director of Doctoral Studies for Architecture and Civil Engineering, aiming to develop an active research culture for PhD students. I have recently joined the casework committee of the Twentieth Century Society.
