Ramesh is leading IIT Madras Center of Excellence in Sports Science and Analytics's push to be a global platform for fostering innovation in sports technology and delivering products and solutions to enhance athlete performance and fan on ground and media experience. He has also been tasked with setting up an Incubator ecosystem for Sport Tech start-ups at IIT Madras. Prior to this he was Vice President of ESPN India and South Asia. He was providing leadership to drive global digital leadership, innovation and profitability of world’s no 1 digital sports brand ESPNcricinfo and also provide overall strategic leadership for ESPN India & South Asia operations. He had been driving Cricinfo right from early stages of its growth and through various phases of investments. He had been driving overall Cricinfo global growth objectives and ensuring global product growth balancing growth & profitability, building and driving various commercial models and establishing operational excellence from initial years. Over the years he had pioneered innovative partnership models with other stakeholders in the digital and sports eco system to grow overall reach of Cricinfo globally and increase brand awareness of ESPNcricinfo in various regions. Till Dec 2023 he had been driving the multi sports & multiplatform growth of ESPN in India and subcontinent along with collaboration/partnership with various strategic partners and from 2018 with other Disney sports businesses in India – Disney+Hotstar and Starsports and internationally with ESPN.com and ESPN+. Ramesh has consistently striven to uphold the Walt Disney values and principles in the Indian operations of ESPN. Prior to ESPN Ramesh has management consulting experience across diverse sectors aiding strategic consultancy, advisory and business planning for MNCs for market entry strategy, corporate strategic direction & aid in diversification/efficiency improvement/cost reduction plans. Conceptualizing projects and then carrying out detailed project configuration and feasibility, project planning and operationalization for leading corporates. Aiding State Governments in the process of infrastructure privatization & aiding State Governments in their industrial development strategy formulationHe has overall more than 3 decades of industry experience with initial corporate stint with the Tata group in IndiaRamesh holds a graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras
