Last one standing.I began professional life in the confectionery world: managing databases, assessing requirements, writing SQL queries, generating insights & reports. Two weeks in, our web developers closed business and sent everyone panicking in the middle of a three-month promo event that relied on our website. So, I knocked on my boss' door and volunteered to look after it till we hired new web developers. I ended up managing our website until 'The Takeover'.In April 2018, PFD Food Services stepped in and made us an offer we couldn't refuse. We were now, officially under new ownership, new management, and new ways of doing things - which meant restructures & redundancies. As hard as it was seeing my colleagues leave one by one, these were also exciting times as they allowed me to expand my skills and build a stronger portfolio.With my ability to grasp concepts quickly, outgoing colleagues like National Account Managers, Financial Analysts, Customer Service Managers taught me everything from financial planning, pricing analysis, customer engagement, and the many subtleties of the confectionery industry, so I could manage everyday activities, keep major customers happy, and avoid potential loss of revenue.Seeing their confidence in me was a big motivator to grow. I love to learn and being able to do just that was very fulfilling. I thank them for everything they taught me. If they hadn't, I wouldn't have been the prime source of confectionery intelligence at work now. Suffice to say, everyone at PFD continues to realise my knowledge & expertise which must be why I'm the last one standing.Now, I continue to amaze everyone with how quickly I have adapted to this "new" life in the business and my understanding of in-house tools, techniques, procedures, and processes. I also blow everyone's mind with my analytical skills, Excel expertise, and VBA Macros wizardry to build tools to solve complex business problems, demand planners, forecast generators, and dashboards.When I am not analysing data or pivoting tables, you'll find me working on a recipe in the kitchen, identifying the nose and palette of a wine, learning about anything and everything on YouTube, or watching reruns of Kath & Kim. You might also spot me driving around or parked somewhere taking pictures, like my background photo - Melbourne Skyline, circa 2014, on a cold & wet night from St Kilda Pier.
