Coordinates the work between customers and engineering teams.• Led the development of the Intel ME Firmware Recovery Agent, an application deployed in millions of devices to allow Intel to collect statistics as well as allowing remote recovery and maintenance, saving Intel millions of dollars in potential costs and damages.• Helped other Intel teams, such as the Intel Security Foundation team, to get started with developing and deploying solutions based on open source technologies (e.g. Linux and Python.)• Led the development of a tool to assist Intel customers to migrate drivers and applications to Windows 8, saving Intel millions of dollars in support costs. Personally wrote all the hardware and software detection code as well as managing the rest of the project.

Served as the technical leader for the Intel Hosted Services, a program to assist smaller Intel channel members compete with larger OEMs by offering hosted IT services (hosted email, backup, etc.) Won that year’s Intel Divisional Recognition Award for driving it from design to shipping release in under a quarter.Also served as main point of contact and evangelist for the program in Canada and the US, holding demo and training sessions.

• Represented Intel in the multidisciplinary advisory board that created the “Venezolana de Informática y Tecnología”, a Venezuelan state-owned enterprise aimed at fostering Linux development in that country. Advised in different aspects of opensource development. Wrote the software specification for their official Linux distribution.• Wrote the specification for the Brazilian “PC para Todos” digital inclusion program.• Led the creation of a free educational software bundle for the Ministry of Education of Argentina; this bundle was distributed to all public schools and involved migration several of them to Linux as part of a pilot. Roberto did the migration in the first three schools personally.• Roberto advised and trained personnel of the Ministry of Education of Venezuela in Linux (both use and administration) in order to migrate their 400k workstations from Windows to Linux.• Roberto went to Peru to assist to channel members to start shipping PCs with Linux pre-installed. This involved working on fixing drivers to work on their hardware (mostly adding missing quirks.)• Roberto provided Linux development consulting to several small, specialized Linux distributions in Brazil (Insigne, Metasys, and others.)

Lead developer in the “Advanced Development Team” at Freedows, a NGO creating a new Linux distribution aimed at social inclusion projects in Brazil.• Led project to migrate Banco do Brasil (a state-owned bank funding our NGO) from OS/2 to Linux.• Worked on the FreeDirectory, a “clone” of Microsoft’s ActiveDirectory for our distro.• Wrote the VirtualDrive, an abstraction of the Linux filesystem• Wrote several administration utilities (mostly Python)

Managed the “enterprise development support” team. This team was responsible for all customer projects involving software development. We have developed several software solutions for customers, some of the more interesting ones:• A mailserver farm administration solution that was (is?) used by some of the largest telecoms in Brazil.• A customization of the rsync utility for HSBC that has saved them thousands of dollars in bandwidth costs.• Led the development of a secure communication system used by the Brazilian Army.• Managed the development of an adhoc peer-to-peer emergency VPN network for the Brazilian Navy. Parts of the development were done in-site inside the Navy Armory.• General bug fixing in any number of opensource packages• Maintenance of the distro’s KDE packages• Work on KDE proper, including maintaining several applications and libraries
