Platform Technology & Science (PTS) provides an end-to-end scientific and technical platform upon which GSK Therapy Area units discover, test and develop new medicines for patients, and R&D transfers our processes to Global Manufacture and Supply. Our combined efforts can advance the science and technologies used for discovery, development, and manufacturing.I have contributed modeling/formulation/development advice on projects throughout the drug development cycle from selecting the best candidates to problem solving for marked drugs. Examples include:• Enabled successful danirixin C2MD by providing reason to believe that a salt would fix PK variability based on GastroPlus PBPK modeling. This work represents an aspiration by GSK to integrate the non-clinical, modeling and clinical data in a single publication, recently published in Eur J Pharm Biopharm - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28385615• Provided input to investment decisions with external companies based on limited and/or incomplete data by the use of predictions from structure and modeling• Consultancy for GSK external partners via Scinovo • Contribution to peer review of candidate selections, dose prediction, regulatory documentation and regulatory questionsI have worked with Simulations Plus since 2000 and on a number of projects to add additional dosing routes for GastroPlus:• Pulmonary (Intranasal/Respiratory) Compartmental Absorption & Transit (PCAT™) • Transdermal Compartmental Absorption & Transit (TCAT™)These models have been implemented in the Simulations Plus software and in use by many pharmaceutical companies and regulatory agencies. I represent GSK on Work Package 4 (in silico tools) of the IMI Oral biopharmaceutics tools (OrBiTo) project. This has produced a number of publications on PBPK modeling.
