I am passionate about equity and inclusion and I have dedicated my professional career to these exact causes in the disability community.During my time at UCLA I earned my minor in disability studies and completed my thesis on the effects of environment on future goals, and ultimate success of individuals with autism. It was here I discovered there are not a lot of options discussed or researched for individuals with autism once they turn 18. As a result, I found passion for college programs and employment for individuals with intellectual disabilities. I volunteered at Villa Esperanza in the Adult Day program, interned as an Education Coach at Pathways at UCLA Extension, the Master Instructor for the Individualized Services, Workforce Development, and Supported Employment departments at the Tierra del Sol Foundation, a Service Coordinator and HCBS manager for Regional Centers, BUSD special education at a technician and consultant, and Program Manager for CHLA. I catered to client needs, , supported staff with a caseload of around 200 by holding trainings, observations, and running the safety program at each of 72 job sites, advocated for individual needs for families and individuals affected by disability, and earned an understanding of how to navigate the system controlling disability legislature. Everyday is a new adventure and my clients teach me something new about the world and about myself.I received my MPH with emphasis in public policy from USC to make a greater impact on their lives and make the world richer by advocating for their contribution to society. I completed my practicum at CHLA in their University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities by providing Regional Center resources, consultations for families and individuals, and acted as a research assistant for many of the policy revision projects. I was then hired to create and manage a new job training program at CHLA for individuals with ID with the intent of having them hired full time for CHLA or one of the surrounding medical practices.I have acted as a consultant on disability rights, inclusion, and policies for BUSD, SPEDex, and Disability Voices United. I spend most of my time in the disability community so I can best amplify the voices of those affected by the policy changes and services I provide. I believe my commitment to excellence and ability and willingness to go the extra mile makes me a stand out and I look forward to connecting.
