Help teams develop reliable & scalable distributed systems with great observability.How do search engines work, what are the behind scenes systems running it, how do they operate so smoothly ?These were the things I was curious about and made me explore large scale distributed systems. I started my career as a Java developer working on enterprise back office application for a financial client, my curiosity took me through all roles from backend, frontend to production support (early DevOps). Based on a monolith architecture, I had worked on relational database management, automated deployment pipelines, created web pages using Servlets & JSP, SOAP, plain HTML & CSS, jQuery.But then the migration to micro-service architecture changed it all. It was an explosion of frameworks & technologies, changing every part of enterprise applications as we knew it. And then started my journey into micro-services with Golang, NoSQL databases, managed clouds, containerization, Kubernetes, Observability and finally public clouds & infrastructure as code.The scale and flexibility of these systems are always fascinating to me.These technologies have broken the boundaries between development and operations and have created a shared responsibility between teams to improve the system as a whole. Now, observability technologies has completely changed the visibility into applications for all teams. It shows what is working and how well they are working which are quantifiable insights for operations team. So about my first question about search engines ? Well, looking at the observability dashboards of the systems, we can get lot of insights into systems load, throughput & response times in real time.And now I help teams develop such reliable & scalable distributed systems with great observability.
