Spearheaded a digital transformation of newsprint distribution through the development and deployment of 'Distribution Deputy', a first of its kind mobile solution (SaaS and App) tailored to address the prevalent challenges in the newspaper industry. In a climate marked by industry contraction and dwindling revenues, this solution stood out by automating distribution through advanced analytics and optimization.Our key challenge was to devise a reliable mechanism to report daily "returns" or undelivered newspapers, and subsequently, to finetune the press run for the next day based on cover story, weather and day of the week. Answering this, I architected a SaaS web application, synergized with a mobile data collection module, facilitating real-time data logging and ultimately an automated printing press calculation. Key Achievements:Real-time Analysis: Enabled circulation managers with a holistic platform (Distribution Deputy - www.distributiondeputy.com) for effective driver and location management, reporting, and crucially, optimizing press runs using data-driven insights from historical returns.Industry Recognition: Successfully on-boarded and serviced reputed clients including Metro News Canada (across multiple cities), Boise Weekly, Creative Loafing Tampa, and Colorado Springs Independent.
