Thesis: The Pd-Catalyzed Semihydrogenation of Alkynes to Z-Alkenes: Catalyst Systems and the Type of Active SpeciesIn my PhD I have developed new and improved procedures for the synthesis of Z-Alkenes, which are highly relevant for, for instance fragrance molecules. Additionally, I have studied the catalyst and developed a methodology that determines the type of active catalyst, which is currently one of the challenges in Pd-catalysis and homogeneous catalysis as a whole. As a part of my PhD I have collaborated with various groups e.g. Prof. Coperet (CPE Lyon and ETH Zurich), Dr. Mike Coogan (Cardiff Univeristy) and Dr. Peter Witte (BASF the Netherlands) and supervised students both in groups as individually.
