Grade students’ essays, reports and assignments for the Ecology Ecosystems and the Environment Class. Lead review sessions, proctor exams and communicate with students regularly.

Led students aged 16-17 on month-long backpacking, sea kayaking, white water rafting and ice climbing trips. Work together with a staff team to coordinate instruction of outdoor activities, risk management, driving a 15-passenger van with a U-Haul attached, managing group dynamics, maintaining equipment, and handling medical issues. Mentored students to enhance communication, creativity, critical thinking, self-management, and resilience.

Work as part of a larger crew to assess forest plots as part of a region wide forest health monitoring program. In smaller groups work to quantify forest stand composition and structure, assess canopy condition and conduct regeneration and understory assessments on forest subplots. Each week plan daily trips, maintain equipment and work with the FEMC data base for data entry. Identify common, native, and invasive plants in the northeast and practice navigation to subplots using a map andcompass or GPS unit.

Co-Lead eight first year students on a five-day backpacking trip along the Long Trail for the purpose of introducing them to Vermont and cultivating community before college starts. Plan hiking routes, meal ideas, gear requests, evacuation routes and safety measures before students arrive. Communicate with director of Outdoor Programs if issues arise on trail such as possibility of an evacuation and water source questions. Provide a space for first year students at UVM to feel welcome and included in the outdoors.

Travel to various grade schools throughout the state to teach watershed science, specifically in the Lake Champlain basin, including classroom watershed model demonstrations and field-based stream monitoring components. Teach various ages about the chemical, physical and biological components of a river and how they might affect pollution, run off and the health of Lake Champlain

Lived in a rustic cabin with ten 8-year-olds and provided basic needs for the whole summer. Inspired curiosity for the natural world through leading activities such as fire building, natural history observations and team building exercises. Work with cabin coordinators and administrators to resolve conflicts within the cabin. Co-lead a three-day canoeing trip with the cabin that involves, cooking over the fire, camp site set up, canoeing skills and wood chopping.

Teaches lessons in natural history and field study. Leads groups games, arts and crafts, sensory awareness activities, storytelling and singing.

Ensures that policies, guidelines and safety procedures are followed. Designs lesson plans and teaches swim lessons to children ages 3-8. Monitors designated areas to recognize signs of danger while warning swimmers regarding unsafeconditions. Maintains a productive workspace by cleaning the bathrooms and pool house.Responds to emergencies in a timely manner. Administers raft tests and assesses the ability of swimmers to swim in the deep end.

Develops different lesson plans for individualized groups including games, drills and technique practice.Leads stretches and team bonding activities before and after practice. Analyzes swim techniques and determines different skill levels.Educates swimmers ages 4-7 on various styles and techniques while overseeing training. Supervises swimmers at meets by keeping track of times, meet order and coaching before races.

Helps with cleaning: vacuums play area, encourages children to clean up their area once they’re finished and picks up playground after school is closed. Works with children ages 3-5.

Demonstrates exercises to children ages 3-12 taking ballet class. Encourages younger children to dance during class and motivate them to participate. Shows specific techniques to dancers.
