In this role, I focused on communications for our disability inclusion portfolio as well as our Equal World campaign.

I was promoted in January 2021 into a new role where I will work across the campaign and communications teams, dividing my time between media, communications and campaigning work.

Worked across the media and communications teams at Sightsavers, an organisation tackling avoidable blindness and fighting for disability rights around the world. My original 6 month contract was extended to a year. Here is some of my work:

Editor of the monthly newsletter at Sanctuary on Sea, part of the national network of Cities of Sanctuary supporting refugees and migrants and fostering a culture of welcome in our cities. I also helped run the Facebook page, wrote news stories and blogs for the website and managed communications around the annual Refugee Week celebrations in Brighton & Hove in 2019 and 2020. As part of a scheme run by the University of Bristol, I worked a three-month summer internship at the foundation where I focused on producing marketing and communications materials, improving the performance of social media channels and writing reports for donors.

After graduating, I undertook proofreading and writing for publishing houses in the Brighton area, focusing on children's books and educational resources. I wrote Women in Science: Temple Grandin, an illustrated book aimed at primary-school children. It brings to life Temple's successful career transforming the way in which livestock are treated and campaigning for better recognition of autistic people. It was published by Scholastic 1 September 2019. Other clients for my proofreading work included the GMC Publishing Group, Salariya, Ivy Press and Pearson.
