I was delighted to be promoted to the role of Events and Awards executive after completing my studies at ATU Galway. My new role is a step up as I am leading the team on plethora of awards ceremonies this year. My new role demands intense attention to detail as the expectations of all vendors, guests, venues, sponsors and partners must be not only met but exceeded to maintain the strong relationships founded by my predecessor and the sales team at iQuest.

To be asked to continue my work with iQuest, as part of the Hospitality Expo team was brilliant. This opportunity allowed me to expand my skillset into sales. I worked with multiple clients regarding their needs for their exhibition spaces while continuing to work within the iQuest team. The event, by all accounts, was a fantastic success.

As part of my studies at ATU, I went on six months of work placement with iQuest. My time at iQuest gave me a real taster of the corporate side of the events management industry. It reaffirmed my choice of degree programme. During my time at iQuest, I worked on the operations team for over 20 conferences and award shows as well as charity lunches and magazine launch events. But don't take my word for it, upon the completion of my placement, iQuest's Operations Director, Hilary Hughes gave me a fantastic reference for my academic report, "Ruby has had a very busy 24 weeks with iQuest where we have hosted in the region of 20 events - a mix of conferences, awards, lunches, launch nights, charity events etc. We are delighted to have Ruby as part of the team and she has proved to be a considerate and hard working member of the group. During my time at Anthony Ryans, I was highly trained to provide the highest level of customer service.Aiding and advising the customer from inquiry up until their time of purchase and beyond, if they experienced any problems of difficulties with their purchased goods.I was involved in merchandising new stock and styling mannequins for window display as well as up keeping the everyday appearance and running of the shop floor.A highlight of my time at Anthony Ryans was acting as compere during their annual fashion show for approximately 100 guests. I was given the privilege of writing my own script which really allowed me the opportunity to be creative with the project.My time at Anthony Ryans was an invaluable learning experience.

During my time at DNA, I was granted extra responsibilities such as door to door ticket sales and merchandise giveaways at Gort na Coribe and Glasan. I worked along side promotions teams from other Galway city nightclubs such as Electric and Coyotes, encouraging healthy competition for the public’s attention.
