As a Registered Support Worker, I work 24 hour shifts in a children's crisis care provision. I am restraint trained and also trained in the administration of controlled medication. There is one child per house and we generally work on a 2:1 basis, to model a healthy family dynamic in each provision for the child to thrive in their development. Where possible, I encourage the child to engage in daily housework tasks with me, such as cooking, cleaning, washing, etc. During the day, myself and my colleague take the child out to engage in fun activities, such as trampolining, going for walks, escape rooms, and of course, the daily food shop. We encourage regular therapeutic discussions about past experiences and the child often opens up to us about how they came to our care. I assist the young people on family contact and have been present in various CAMHS, social worker, hosptial and psychologist meetings. I complete extensive paperwork before retiring to bed to get rest for the morning part of the shift where we make breakfast and do a clean before the handover.

As the mental health outreach lead and administrator for the award winning charity 'Be Free Campaign', I devised and delivered preventative and informative mental health workshops to schools, colleges, universities, and community centres for young people aged 6 to 25, bringing along our wonderful volunteers, who I managed, to assist with the sessions. My role also consisted of initiating and continuing the communications between educational establishments, data collection and input, delivering mental health training to workplaces, and hosting meet-ups.

I was a learning support assistant in an SEMH primary school for children with behavioural difficulties, specialising in trauma and attachment disorders. The school provides an attachment-friendly community and operates a high boundary, no reward or punishment policy. I supported the children with their learning and their behaviour through sensory, emotional, and academic interventions tailored to their needs. This included providing the students with THRIVE interventions, ensuring their sensory needs were met and engaging them in core exercises. I also gave the students 1:1 sand play and group Lego play, along with social communication activities (speech and language therapy). I was a designated LGBTQ+ ambassador for the school (Rainbow Flag award) where the children came to me with any worries or questions they have surrounding the topic. Other responsibilities included serving on the school website team, communicating with parents and carers and submitting incident reports (CPOMS).

I worked as a playworker at a summer camp for children aged 2 to 11 years old, with responsibilities for childcare and leading activities including sports coaching, arts and crafts, and supporting the children with their reading.
