About Ruby Garcia

Hi all my name is Ruby Isabel Garcia, I am a fourth year at UC San Diego studying Political Science with an emphasis in public law and minoring in business. I am currently hold multiple positions in various organizations. To list my daily whereabouts and responsibilities; I am currently an Off-Campus Senator within @ASUCD, a college readiness coach for SD high via Cal-Soap, SFL EDI Peer ambassador at UCSD, Finance chair and caucus rep for Sigma Pi Alpha and a sales lead for Journeys shoe storeMy mission as one of UCSD's elected Off-Campus Senators is to work toward implementing initiatives that improve the commuter student experience. This will look like currating a parking equity pilot project to aid students in paying for their parking passes and continuing the work of my successor's and their Gasoline Assistance Project -- which allows for students to apply for a gas card via ASUCD funding. Nonetheless through and above these various positions I am an advocate for retention within higher education, better access to higher education and overall justice for the systematically and racially oppressed.
