My role at Paperchase was a Flagship Visual Merchandiser, responsible for the visual impact of the Manchester and then London flagship locations. Working within Selfridges concessions, I was responsible for maintaining strong visual standards across both mens' and womenswear departments in two Manchester sites. A key part of my role was being adaptable to change and company direction and making strong, commercial led decisions to directly influence sales and increase conversion. During my time at the Apartment group I worked within multiple cocktail venues in Newcastle City Centre as a supervisor. My role developed to an event assistant at Newton Hall, a five star luxury wedding venue based in the heart of Northumberland. I started this job as a part time staff member and progressed to a senior member of staff integral in the smooth running of both the hotel and the functions. The role demanded both long hours and high levels of professionalism. I adapted to the role and carried high responsibility both front and back of house. It was key that I worked closely with management and cleaning team staff to ensure a quick and efficient room turn around, especially when we had back to back weddings during high season. During the end of my time here, I was solely responsible for the hotel reception, including cashing up the reception till, doing till sheets and conversing with Head Office finance team over any discrepancies.This would eventually lead to my role as head office receptionist in January 2013. I was the first point of call for any visitors and had to maintain professionalism at all times. I was the primary phone contact and had to ensure all calls were dealt with efficiently. As well as this, my main role was to take and deal with all hotel bookings for both Newton Hall and The Joiner's Arms.
