As it became a challenge for the school to locate a permanent classroom lead, I was asked to continue as the long term sub. since the students had familiarized themselves with my presence having already been in the class room for a week. Once it became known to the students that their regular teacher was not going to continue in the classroom. The children seemed to emit a level of uncertainty of what was to become of their clasrrom moving forward. As we were making efforts to establish a routine and with the assistance of the neighboring teacher, we faced a few behavioral issues that impacted the classroom moral. The lack of structure made it difficult at times to keep the classroom on task and disrupted the everyday learning. However once a routine was established and order brought back into the classroom along with providing sense of stability and consistency, the mood in the classroom changed. The children seemed happy to be in the classroom and developed a closeness amongst eachother. The children demonstrated that they trusted me and opened up to me by sharing their stories, or the fun things they did over the weekend etc. Their learning resumed as normal considering the disruption in their year and demonstrated how resilient they were in a time of uncertainty.
