I am currently studying Textiles A ‘Level at college, when I chose my three subjects, I purposely chose to combine this with History and Psychology to enhance my potential career in textiles and / or design as I believe understanding the past and how humans behaviour have a significant baring on design, fashion and textile technology and trends. My favourite part of the textile, interior and fashion design process is testing new techniques and designs, the process of trials and testing often creates unexpected outcomes that I can then develop into final pieces. I particularly like upcycling from existing garments and combining them with my own development work. I take this beyond my course, and I enjoy upcycling jackets and combining my own design techniques to create unique looks which I sell to friends and other customers. I also have an interest in interior design and recently completed work experience at a local interior designer. Outside of my creative business and studies I have worked since I was 14 waitressing, and I am currently a waitress at a Michelin Star restaurant, and I have set up my own business ‘Soiree Service’ which provides waiting on staff for people having parties at home. Working and creating my own business has enhanced my skills in communication, time management, organisation, marketing as well as silver service. I have also completed Duke of Edinburgh Bronze; Silver and I am currently completing my Gold Award. Duke of Edinburgh develops your skills in Team building, innovation, tenacity, adventure determination and self-sufficiency. Throughout my time doing Duke of Edinburgh, I have completed 3 practice and 3 full expeditions which includes wild camping and over 2 years of volunteering, skill and physical activity. My expeditions also taught me about the benefits of textiles innovation, whether that was in the various textiles I wore to support me with my heating and cooling or the textiles that protected my feet or back.My family have instilled in me a strong work ethic and also an appreciation for those less fortunate and I am constantly striving to develop myself to ensure I have a successful future, and I can use that success for the benefits of others. Given the diversity of textiles, design and interiors in modern life means a career in design could lead to a career as diverse as the designs themselves. I am looking forward to working hard to secure a future apprenticeship in design, textiles, fashion or interiors when I complete my A'Levels
