As a research fellow, we are assigned a staff member from UCSB to help further their research. I has the opportunity to work with Dr. Funlayo E. Wood. She specializes in African Spirituality and we gathered research on those topics so we could create a database about them. I have learned skills such as editing journals and proper researching techniques/tips. I ended my work at the center with Matt Giles and his team where we looked at police recruitment videos to see and analyze how racially diverse they are. Eventually, our goal was to find how this affects how diverse a police department is.
