Self-directed summer research opportunity through the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program. I designed and conducted my own original research project looking at how gender and chronic illness interact to inform how chronically ill femmes negotiate identity in varied social and physical contexts. I investigated this question through qualitative interviews and inductive analysis. This project formed the basis of William O. Douglas Honors College thesis, "I feel like I've so long put on a face of 'I'm okay' that that in itself is how people see me": Making visible identity negotiation among chronically ill femmes.
