About Ruby Franklin-Goddard πŸ’« Zoologist

Throughout my life, I have always known that my passion lies in the field of zoology. While my career aspirations have evolved over the years, my journey has been characterized by early exposure to a diverse range of species.Currently, I am in the final year of my undergraduate program in zoology at Queen Mary University of London. My dissertation is dedicated to creating population models for Podisma grasshoppers using the R programming language, aiming to contribute to a deeper understanding of the genetic hybrid zone situated in the French Alps and its evolution since the last glacial maximum. In addition to my academic pursuits, I hold an animal management diploma and have completed a beginner's falconry course. Years of hands-on falconry training and maintaining a diverse animal collection have allowed me to hone my animal husbandry and training skills, which I'm eager to further develop. I have also found immense satisfaction in participating in falconry shows and delivering educational talks at various events, where I engaged with the public while handling animals within high-stress environments, sharing insights about the fascinating species I've had the privilege to work with.Beyond academia and hands-on training, I have volunteered with Sussex IFCA (Inshore Fishery and Conservation Authority). My contributions have included synthesizing over a decade's worth of data related to a black sea bream marine conservation zone, as well as participating in small fish surveys.I'm enthusiastic about embarking on the next chapter of my zoology-focused career, whether it leads me down the ecological, animal husbandry, or research path
