Howdy!I’m Rudy and I’ve always had a deep-rooted interest in technology. I developed and sold my first website in elementary school for $100. Since then, I have honed my skills on an entrepreneurial journey progressing from building a startup media company alongside my friends to presently serving as a software engineer in an innovative, distributed observability SaaS venture.With 10+ years of experience in software engineering I firmly believe any challenge can be solved with taking ownership, fostering ingenuity, and promoting collaboration. As a founding dev at Foodbeast I faced the critical tasks of scaling a growing blog to effectively manage exponential visitor growth and handle substantial traffic spikes, supporting our team with indispensable internal tools, and conceptualizing and launching unique projects that secured lucrative partnerships with industry giants like Coca-Cola and Amazon Prime (e.g. we built a vending machine that accepted Instagram selfies as currency).While my innate enthusiasm for building remains a defining aspect of my character, my unique skills are assuming ownership and aligning my efforts with positive outcomes. I am constantly driven to determine the necessary steps to achieve success and maintain an unwavering focus on the end user, be it a customer, reader, or another engineer consuming APIs.I’m a big believer in empathy and respect and strive to employ these values with my teammates and users alike. At Serverless we’re building next-generation observability tools. Whether it’s designing a feed that delivers essential signal over noise or scaling a system to store billions of metrics while still serving fast queries, I immerse myself in the problem with the mindset of a customer to deliver value. Beyond tech, I pull inspiration from cooking a great meal, tending to the garden, and spending time with my family and dogs.
