• Learned the ALS (Alternating Least Squares) and eALS (element-wise ALS) for online recommender system.• Applied the CPU and GPU parallel programming to the eALS by C++, CUDA and OpenMP.• Found other tools that do parallel programming on ALS and compare the outcomes of them with that of ours.• Helped solved the major challenge that the memory needed exceeds the shared memory of GPU• Applied the algorithm that can rearrange the input based on the data density.• Change the eALS algorithm to fit the tile by tile computing instead of the row by row computing since we need to compute certain part of the input matrix.
