About Rupo Mapanga

A budding chemist interested in finding how science applies to the real world: in the food industry, forensics etc. I enjoy combining my passion for creativity and science and believe this is critical to increasing the uptake of STEM subjects by young people especially girls and people of BAME so that they too, can see themselves in a STEM position, which I discussed when I was awarded the Women in Science Award. I also want to break the barrier of what scientists are perceived as. I started doing this by being a mentor at a residential focused on bringing girls into science by showing them all the different avenues they could take.
