Seconded full-time for 3 months to establish the Rio Tinto Iron Ore rehabilitation and closure working group. Core deliverables included:• Establishment and facilitation of a multi-disciplinary working group consisting of a general manager, managers, principal advisors and superintendents• Drafting of a progressive rehabilitation position paper for Iron Ore Rehabilitation & Closure Steering Committee• Collate information and metrics for the Iron Ore Rehabilitation & Closure Steering Committee• Working directly with senior management and principal advisors on working group projects• Nomination of winning Rio Tinto CEO Groundbreakers award• Development of site self-rating tip to conformance metrics• Invloved in Rio Tinto progressive rehabilitation 'sprint' project representing Iron Ore

• Management of a threatened species offset plan to offset significant residual impacts to 2 Matters of National Environmental Significance (the northern quoll and the Pilbara olive python) and biodiversity more generally by managing threatening processes (refer to 'accomplishments' section for further detail).• Environmental reporting to Australian State and Federal Government as required under Part IV and Part V of the Environmental Protection Act (1986)• National Pollutant Inventory, National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting and S&E survey• Understanding environmental risk profile at both site and divisional level, maintaining environmental risk registers, facilitating risk register reviews and working with site management to ensure risks are understood and mitigated• Involved in the generation and completion of environmental improvement projects• Engagement with various stakeholders, both onsite and off, to deliver positive environmental outcomes that align with the environmental management system (EMS) and associated environmental standards• Participate in ISO14001 EMS audits and internal gap assessments as subject matter expert for environment standards and EMS elements• General management of site environmental issues including land clearing, air quality, surface water quality, ground water management, hydrocarbon management, contaminated sites management, licence and Ministerial conditions management, fauna interactions, mineral and non-mineral waste management• Co-ordination of consultants to conduct various environmental management programs through all steps of CMS as well as budget management• Detailed analysis of environment data to identify trends, non-compliances and concerns • Direct supervision of a graduate environmental advisor including setting of clear objectives and deadlines as well as providing extensive feedback on achievement of objectives• Incident and action management to ensure compliance to HSEQ management system

• Ensure all statutory and voluntary monitoring samples are collected according to required schedule and as per Australian Standards • Detailed analysis of environment data to ensure accuracy, identify trends and atypical results and produce trend reports• Management of troglofauna habitat monitoring network including maintenance of monitoring stations and analysis of habitat data• Extensive contractor/consultant management to ensure legislative requirements are met• Continual process improvement including research and implementation of a new groundwater monitoring method and implementation of troglofauna habitat monitoring rolling calibration schedule• Maintain Envirosys database of monitoring data including implementation of automated troglofauna habitat data upload and reporting• Participate in an internal business conformance audit resulting in no findings associated with elements and standards of accountability• Develop monitoring maps and tracks in MapInfo software

• Set up schedule and co-ordinate environmental monitoring for 3 mine sites as outlined in respective licences and management plans• Ensure all statutory and voluntary monitoring samples are collected according to required schedule• Maintain awareness of current licence requirements and amend above schedule accordingly• Detailed analysis of environment data to ensure accuracy, identify trends and atypical results and produce trend reports • Ensure monitoring equipment calibrated according to requirements and maintain calibration records• Maintain Envirosys database of monitoring data for each East Pilbara operations site• Participate in both internal and external audits• Contribute to maintaining ISO 14001 certification• Develop monitoring maps and tracks in MapInfo software

• Undertake projects such as implementation of equipment checks and sampling regimes, automation of Stockpile Management Software and implementation of Ampla downtime reporting• Take on supervisor responsibilities in supervisor’s absence in adherence to Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 and the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulation 1995• Product allocation and train scheduling• Daily, monthly and yearly stacking / reclaiming reconciliation reporting• All facets of sample preparation including use of RSD’s, splitters, mills & crushers• Run and maintain a sample station ensuring representability of samples• Variety of analysis on samples including x-ray fluorescence• Training of lab staff• Stockyard management and modelling of stacking & reclaiming using SMS software
