Rusty Hicks is a 1975 Graduate from Baylor University and is a Co-Founder of Combat Marine Outdoors. On June 19, 2019 he retired from 10 years of service as Executive Director of CMO and has recently been named as Corporate Development Officer for Texas State Technical College in Waco. On Dec 4th, 2015, Rusty was awarded the title, "Honorary Marine" by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General Joseph Dunford. Fewer than 100 people have been bestowed this title in the entire 244 year history of the Corps. A few other notables are Bob Hope, Chuck Norris, Gary Sinise and Jim Nabors(Gomer Pyle).In 2010, he retired from 26 years of Officiating Men’s College Basketball for five NCAA Division I Conferences, 3 N.A.I.A. and 2 NCAA D2 Conferences. Mr. Hicks is a 2014 Graduate of the Inaugural DEA Citizen’s Academy, a 24 year veteran Football Referee in the Houston Area and has been the Featured Speaker at the Marine Corps Ball in Houston and Brazosport College Commencement Ceremony in 2012. On March 7, 2014, Rusty was awarded the rank of Honorary Colonel in the Army 75th Training Command by Maj Gen Jimmie Jaye Wells and Lt Gen James Talley. He also played Baseball for Baylor University and is a member of the Karl Young Baseball Hall of Fame. Rusty is a pilot, avid hunter, saltwater fisherman and enjoys golf. He and wife Martha have been married for 41years and have recently moved to Waco, Texas. They have three children… Ray( 2006 graduate of Univ. of Houston), Ryan (2009 Graduate of Texas A&M-Galveston) and Jennifer (2011 Graduate of Texas Tech) and six Grandchildren.
