Ruth Arnold is Executive Director External Affairs for International Education provider Study Group and a consultant to UK universities and sector bodies. Previously she worked as Director of Public Affairs at the University of Sheffield.She is also an Advisor to the National Indian Students and Alumni Union, served on the International Working Group of the Student Futures Commission and has given evidence to Parliament on the public benefit of international education. She continues to serve on a number of national and regional higher education advisory and policy groups, including for London Higher and in support of Afghan scholars in the U.K. Ruth cofounded the award-winning #WeAreInternational campaign and was the 2020 recipient of the Professional International Education ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Industry’ Award. She was a finalist in the US BrandMasters Award for her work with students to communicate the value of international education.During her career in higher education, Ruth was proud to be part of the small team that founded the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, which now includes two catapult centres, an apprenticeship training centre and over 150 member companies including Boeing, BAE, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, McLaren and Mitsubishi. The ground-breaking partnership between university research and industry won a Queen’s Anniversary Prize and Times Higher Award for widening participation. Ruth has also worked with global and local charities in the international development, education and neurodiversity fields. She has a special interest in dyspraxia and autism and works with the Nuffield Foundation on education and opportunity in regional economies. Her proudest professional achievements relate to international education, advanced apprenticeships and refugee scholars.
