About Ruth Cole

I am a passionate supporter of Children and Young People helping them to make choices and grow in a safe environment. I have over 23 years’ experience within local authority and recently joined Olmec ‘Black on Board’ to be trained as a board member. Black on Board is a governance training programme for organisations investing in Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff designed to train and mentor participants onto board positions. Their focus within the BAME community is people of colour from Black, Asian, communities to address under representation of communities at board level.I want to bring my experience to support the vision and mission of the organisation that I work for. I am aware of the commitment required of a board member. I fully understand the responsibilities of the board and its planned goals. My training as a board member and a counsellor underpins my exceptional communication skills that are tangible at all levels. I am pleasant in one-to-one discussions as well as calm offering to an audience or one to one.My style is practical, spirited, and persistent. I am very imaginative in my thinking and relish the challenge of coming up with of new concepts, or new ways of working, while remaining affiliated with the organisation’s philosophy and fundamental task. I believe there is a resolution to every problem and that difficult situations are merely a chance to learn and grow.
