Joining Bodyswaps brought a whole new dimension to my designs! It has been a joy to work in a medium that supports truly experiential learning and the results have been nothing short of amazing! In pilot testing, 85% of students who used Job Interview Simulator - my first big project with Bodyswaps - said that they would recommend the experience to their peers and 79% found it to be more effective than traditional training. With student endorsements like “I wish learning was always that much fun” and education providers saying “This is a game changer,” I couldn’t feel more inspired to continue to explore what immersive soft skills training can do. As Head of Learning Design, I played a strategic role in shaping both product and content roadmaps, leading innovation in new user experience interactions and adoption of Gen AI. I created the company's immersive learning design methodology and tools to help Bodyswaps to scale up production as they grow their team. I look forward to coaching more emerging talent in this budding field of immersive learning design in years to come.I also recruited and trained an excellent team of immersive learning designers as well as creating the design methodology and tools that helped Bodyswaps scale up production as the company transitioned from innovative start-up to a leader in the VR training market.

It was a privilege to have spent time with such a talented team, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with proprietary development tools and Brightwave’s own Waveform tool. Some of my most innovative and engaging designs were brought to life under the auspices of Brightwave. From a fun, scenario-based game for the World Customs Organisation to a dramatic AML challenge for PwC; customer service training for staff working on the Elizabeth Line with branching scenarios and animated singing passengers, to interactive videos with human and animal quiz masters for Mars Petcare!But one of my most rewarding projects while at Brightwave was the creation of responsive volunteer training for Samaritans. It was an emotional journey for all of us, with an enthusiastic and collaborative client, on a project where creative writing skills, sensitivity and tone of voice were imperative.

A busy, yet enjoyable, period of my life in which I juggled raising a small child and maintaining a career. As a freelance writer and editor, I wrote everything from white papers to heartfelt professional blogs for previous employers and clients as well as recipes on my own healthy eating website that combined lots of my favourite things - cooking, writing, photography... and eating!

Responsible for creating, managing and delivering exceptional quality content - from in-depth articles to infographics - that educate and delight online audiences. As part of a tight-knit team, I was involved in all aspects of the editorial process for a wide range of content. As well as commissioning writers and editing copy for articles about all aspects of leadership and professional business skills, I penned my own blog, wrote book reviews, drafted fortnightly newsletters and even designed motivational posters.

Diversity is my middle name! While freelancing, I provided instructional design for a wide range of projects, from innovative, media-rich UfI Childcare NVQ content to specialist training for hydrocarbon engineers. Past clients include the House of Commons, NHS, Birmingham County Council, Dorset County Council, Capita, Intellego, Kineo, BP, VW, The Co-operative Bank, The Garden Centre Group, Reuters and Standard Life.

Responsible for the production of high quality e-learning programmes for public and private sector organisations. Duties included overseeing product timelines and budgets, coordinating different members of the project team, clients and contractors, creation of digital content, commissioning scriptwriters, editorial and quality assurance.

During two years of world travel, I worked in various temporary positions with organisations ranging from conference venues to alpaca farms. My most significant position during this period was with the New Zealand Ministry of Education, analysing issues involved in the development of a nation-wide strategy for e-learning in tertiary education. My work at the Ministry was particularly interesting and challenging because of the unique cultures and Treaty-based responsibilities of the country and its government.

Working at Epic was the beginning of something epic! I'm still friends with lots of my old team mates, and meeting new people in the e-learning industry is often a game of six degrees of separation, with Epic taking the place of Kevin Bacon. My responsibilities as a SID included writing project proposals, design documents and interactive scripts; preparing budgets and schedules; briefing programmers, scriptwriters, graphic designers and testers; liaising with clients and subject matter experts; and coaching new interactive designers.

Long before the launch of Facebook or even Myspace, The Open University was working on its own social media learning platform, Lyceum. This exciting new instant messaging, audio-conferencing, shared whiteboard, concept mapping and text editing tool offered innovative new ways for distance learners to interact with one another and their lecturers. My role was to help the course designers and lecturers to embrace the technology and overcome any challenges they faced.

New and emerging technologies have always shaped the way that teachers deliver learning, but digital technologies have the power to change the whole learning experience from passive to active. My research, funded by the JISC Technology Applications Programme, was part of an initiative to help Higher Education institutions to make informed decisions about enhancing the learning experience through innovative technologies. I also taught undergrads Computer Technology.
