Risk AssurancePerformed IT system audits for a wide variety of high profile clients. Focused on reviewing each client’s respective IT processes, assessing the design effectiveness and testing the operating effectiveness of the controls in place. Developed solutions to resolve any control deficiencies identified, prepared the audit report and chaired meetings to communicate all findings to senior management staff. SOX ComplianceWorked within PwC’s Risk Assurance team on a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) review for a major banking client, focused on identifying the EUCs (end user computing tools) used by the client in their various business processes. Verified and tested the operating effectiveness of the controls in place around these EUCs. Documented these controls using narratives, risk control matrices and process maps on MS Visio to the required SOX standard. Developed solutions to resolve any control deficiencies and chaired meetings to communicate findings to senior management staff.Audit of Financial StatementsLed the audit team on a wide variety of audits on clients operating within different industries – including large manufacturing companies, public sector organisations and start-up companies. Managed the audit from initial planning, through the fieldwork and to completion. Trained and supervised junior members of the team to ensure they understood the purpose of the work they had to perform.

Project ManagementProject managed a data improvement project for Thames Water. The requirement was to cleanse old data off the existing IT system in preparation for the implementation of a new system. Coordinated a series of multi-stakeholder workshops between the client staff and the third party IT experts to ensure that appropriate data was cleansed from the system. Set agendas, chaired each meeting and developed action trackers to ensure that any issues identified were followed up and resolved. Provided regular progress updates to senior management to highlight any issues raised and to help ensure that the project stayed on schedule and met the required implementation deadlines.

Contract Negotiation & Risk ManagementLeveraged both my accountancy and legal background to become a key member of the contracts team for the administration of Lehman Brothers. Assumed responsibility for liaising with Lehman Brothers IT and Procurement teams to identify any new products or services that they required to purchase from various suppliers. Directly approached the proposed supplier, obtained and reviewed their terms of business and amended any terms unacceptable to a company in administration before leading negotiations with the supplier’s legal team until agreement was reached. By utilising excellent communication skills and adopting a commercially aware mindset, ensured that proposed amendments were accepted and the contracts agreed promptly.
