Responsible for onboarding new hires including, entering new hire data into computerized HR/payroll system; processes all personnel action information in computer; enters employee payroll deductions and accrual rates. Performs Motor Vehicle, Drug Screen, I-9, E-Verify, and any other compliance checks as required by law or city policy. Utilize bi-lingual skills by acting as translator for employees and members of the public for all of City Hall.Full-cycle recruiting, including posting open positions on city website and other internal/external sites. Receives and reviews employment applications and distributes applications to appropriate hiring manager. Schedule interviews and participates in panel interviews. Manages court ordered garnishments (qualified medical child support orders, child support payments, and garnishments.) Enter employee deduction changes including benefits enrollment changes, direct deposit, taxes, etc.Advise supervisors and employees with timekeeping, online employee self-service website, and, other training system issues.Assists in administering employee benefit programs; files and mails employee forms; researches information; answers questions and resolves problems; assists Employee Benefits Coordinator with maintaining employee benefits/payroll data in automated HR/payroll system. Acts as liaison for all workers’ compensation and property liability insurance activity; files workers compensation and accident reports; enters invoices for payments; communicate with adjusters, physicians, and employees to coordinator return to work and light duty; maintains electronic workers’ compensation/liability files.Chair of Safety Committee. Works with employees to create a safety environment as well as work with each departments needs to reduce accidents and promote safety through training and by providing safety resources. Reviews and records employee performance appraisals, disciplinary action, timekeeping adjustments, and payroll changes.
