About Ruth Marr

Over the past 20 years in the environmental industry I've worked in a variety of roles including, ecological consulting, biodiversity planning, threatened and invasive species management and vegetation monitoring. For most of my career I have worked in the south-east of Australia: as a Zoologist / Ecologist with two leading flora and fauna consulting firms; as a Biodiversity Planner for the City of Whittlesea; and Biodiversity Project Officer with North East CMA. Between December 2020 and January 2024, we relocated to the Top End where I was employed as the Lead Ecologist with a Darwin based consulting firm, EcOz. I have extensive experience in project management, design and implementation of a variety of ecological survey techniques, data analysis, mapping of vegetation communities and habitat, targeted threatened species surveys and impact assessments. I have a passion for the environment, love the challenge and constant learning opportunities in our field and love sharing that knowledge and mentoring new staff. Some of the key projects I have managed, lead in the field and authored are: 1) East Arnhem Wetland Management Plans, NT.2) East Point Biodiversity Management Plan, NT.3) Feral Cat monitoring and Management Plan, McArthur River, NT. 4) Middle Arm Strategic development- threatened species surveys, habitat / vegetation mapping, assessment of impacts and offset requirements, NT. 5) Rehabilitation monitoring at Jabiluka and Djarr Djarr, West Arnhem Land, NT. 6) Southern Toadlet monitoring and Conservation Management Plan, Vic. 7) Managing the City of Whittlesea's Native Vegetation Offset Management Plan, Vic.
