About Ruth Otteman

Ms. Otteman is a Licensed Geologist with over 20 years of performing or managing environmental site investigations, remedial investigations and feasibility studies (RI/FS), and large remedial excavations. Ms. Otteman also has a strong background in geographic information systems (GIS). Her current responsibilities include project management of several petroleum contaminated sites, field work preparation and report writing for larger petroleum bulk plants and terminals. In addition Ms. Otteman has supported various projects conducted under Washington’s Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) as well as water rights investigations. Ms. Otteman provides project management and field support for a variety of remedial excavation projects, monitoring well installations, soil core processing, and soil and water sampling. She has experience installing groundwater monitoring wells for determining groundwater flow conditions, source area recognition, and groundwater quality conditions at investigation sites. Field techniques include drilling with hollow-stem augers, “direct-push” Geoprobes, sonic rigs, limited access rigs, installation of monitoring wells, sampling soil, groundwater, and surveying using Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment. She is responsible for preparing sampling and analysis plans (SAP), health and safety plans (HASP), statements of work for subcontractors, cost estimates and budgets, as well as site assessment and RI/FS reports.
