A top-tier partner of the Oregon Food Bank, Lift Urban Portland is a food provider for low income residents in NW and Downtown Portland. Their primary services include: a Food Pantry, delivered Food Boxes to the home bound, residential tower Emergency Pantries, a Healthy Eating Workshop series known as Supper Club and Harvest Share. "Given a very short and demanding timeline, Ruth quickly assessed the sustainability of Lift Urban Portland and immediately began to build on our strengths, while at the same time addressing our weaknesses. The mission of the Center to “advance student achievement while improving place and community" was completed with the 2015 legislative session and the creation of the Office of School Facilities at the Oregon Department of Education as well as $300 million in facility grants.• Conceived, research and developed Connecting with Students, an online training for teachers and mentors that builds relationships and helps reduce the drop-out rate.• Researched and initiated Ready for School, an early learning project that was adopted and led by the Children’s Institute and resulted in 100% Head Start funding for 4 year olds.• Investigated, developed consensus and launched the Diverse Civic Leaders project later adopted by the Portland Business Alliance and is today’s Partners in Diversity.• Developed eVolvement, an online tool for engaging uninvolved and underrepresented citizens, providing government access prompting the resolution of neighborhood issues.• Funded and developed the first Long Range Facility Plan and Schools Real Estate Trust for Portland Public Schools. Both of which were adopted.

• Conceived, advocated and implemented the Clean and Safe District, an economic improvement district (EID) that became the model for over 100 districts nationwide.• Spearheaded the first of several Strategic Plans for Association for Portland Progress (now Portland Business Alliance) that developed consensus around priorities among public and private leadership with differing interests.• Created the Portland Ambassadors and Downtown Foot Patrol to assist visitors, monitor street disorder, and discourage panhandling, aggressive behavior and provided connections to community services.• Conceived, funded and oversaw Project Respond, a nationally recognized program to provide daily outreach and reconnection to social services for the chronically mentally ill.
