As a part of the University of Sunderland in London senior team (alongside highly able colleagues who have overall responsibility for all activity within our london site) I am leading a newly formed department that has united our Student Support functions: Library, Health and wellbeing, Careers and Employability, Gateway, International student advice, Student Engagement team and sport and society activity. I am also our strategic lead for marketing of the University of Sunderland in London working closely with Sunderland colleagues to continue to lead on brand awareness, campaigns, advertising and all copy and print materials. Other responsibilities include being the key link for UKVI compliance at our london base, and chairing the serious student case review committee, the UofS in London marketing and new product development groups.

A founding member of the senior management team at the University of Sunderland in London. Delivering a broad and demanding portfolio. A role that manages all front facing student support related issues and UK Visa and Immigration Home office compliance (and member of University UKVI compliance steering group) within a fast paced and diverse environment. The developer of the University's London 'Gateway' which offers students a one stop shop for queries, questions and advice, working within a highly competant senior management team and with a broad range of student support professionals to ensure happy, healthy, hard working graduates. Chair of student case review committee and social media committee, as well as responsibility for marketing (and member of University of Sunderland in London marketing group). Responsibile for student sport and activity,the student engagement team, student representation and ambassadors. Following the opening of the University's London campus I was seconded for a 6 month period initially to assist in the set up a higher education campus in the UK Capital and to ensure that the University of Sunderland life changing experience continued within our new venture.

After completing the company management training programme an opportunity to gain further management experience arose in the regions newest store allowing my management skills to become embedded and to share complete responsibility for a £2.8 million turn over store.

Having worked for the company as a part time sales assistant while at university I progressed through the management training to become one a team of managers in the regions flagship store. With specific responsibility for account performance, induction of new staff and motivational incentives. My retail management role however did not offer me the opportunities to develop in the career I had hoped to.

A voluntary position working for a large none governmental organisation in the war affected north of Sri Lanka and living within a refugee community. Work ranged from capacity building, education, health care and disaster relief, alongside the major international organisations Oxfam, Save the children, and UNICEF.
