Development and growth of women's cycling in Hampshire and Dorset through British Cycling's Breeze initiative - getting more women on bikes for fun and fitness - with a strong focus on leadership, influencing, building networks, and workforce development. Part-time/casual role enhanced in Hampshire with my parallel role at Energise Me, the County Sports Partnership.

Making cycling normal for women. Increasing participation in cycling in Hampshire, primarily via British Cycling's Breeze initiative, and with a particular focus on the more 'inactive' women or those with lower cycling 'confidence', as aligned to the strategic focus of Energise Me, the County Sports Partnership.- Design and implementation of specific tailored programmes- Engaging with, and developing Hampshire's female Leaders and Coaches. CPD, focus groups, networking opportunities; recognition and rewards- Providing bespoke skills and bike maintenance sessions with local coaches, clubs and commercial partners- Increasing participation in the Breeze programme in Hampshire by 250% in two years, while developing pathways and opportunities for women to further develop and enjoy their cycling independently- Monitoring, reporting, and influencing. Ensuring clear messaging about integrated working in cycling across workstreams- Building local communities of like minded women, marketing the programme, and celebrating success

Working with sports to be more business-like, progressive, efficient, and effective, while also delivering special projects including Events.Recent work included:• Project Manager, Winchester Criterium and CycleFest 2015-2017, working with Winchester City Council and partners to deliver the best event of it's kind of it's country • Events consultant, London Bikeathon (Bloodwise) 2015 and 2016, a 52 mile charity cycle event in London• Authored sportscotland's new Governance Framework for NGBs in Scotland, launched February 2015, and led related workshops and training events• Developed a sustainable business case for the proposed Community Sports Academy at East Fife Football Club (now built) • Planned Scottish Hockey's legacy move to it's new 'Home for Hockey'​ at the Glasgow Green Hockey Centre (achieved) • Authored Basingstoke Hockey Club's 5 year strategic plan with the aim of being the best community club in Hampshire. Led on the development proposal for a new ATP (now built and achieved)

Temporary short-term contract giving the Health and Wellbeing Team extra capacity to maximise the impact of the London Olympics locally, and provide support for final Legacy planning and initial delivery. Included a key role as Basingstoke hosted the Olympic Torch Relay, Summer 2012, as well as strategic planning and generally supporting the team towards their objectives.

A freelance consultant after completing my MBA in 2005, continuing one day/week while at Scottish Hockey [see below] and after her move to Hampshire thereafter. Freelance projects included:• Sustainable legacy planning of the Commonwealth Games Hockey Stadium to be built for the 2014 Games, including business concept analysis, financial modelling, risk, and feasibility, 2011• Key role in securing Scottish Hockey's six-figure partnership with Aberdeen Asset Management, by some way the largest commercial deal in the NGB's history• Project consultant to the Organising Committee, World University Hockey Championships (Edinburgh 2010)• Events consultant; management and delivery services for national and international mass participation events including the award winning Pedal for Scotland Cycle ride• Project Consultant, Galliford Try PLC, delivering £12m efficiencies on £40m budget through clever project management of this pan-Scotland project

I was responsible for all business functions, including governance and assurance, taking this ‘amateur’ sports NGB through a period of stabilisation then change to become the ‘best governed sport in Scotland’ following independent audit [sportscotland, 2008/9]. • Authored a new strategic business plan, 2008-2014, following widespread consultation with hockey’s stakeholders in Scotland• Designed and delivered a full corporate rebrand in line with the new Business Plan vision and values - to create a new ‘joined up’ Scottish Hockey culture and external brand• Wrote the inaugural ICT strategy and delivered systems and processes to provide a new stable infrastructure and web presence• Advised to the Board in all business, finance, policy, and operational matters. • Designed and delivered new measuring and monitoring processes through to Board level • Held delegated authority to act as CEO in his absence• Delivered and managed the annual and forward budgets and monthly management accounts• Grew business turnover by 35% in 4 years, with budgets achieved• Ensured compliance with Standards including Ethics and Equity [Preliminary Level]• Delivery of quality programs, products and services, including elite events such as the European U18 Hockey Championships and European Indoor Club Championships Cup

Interim work following downturn in internet sports companies from a new Scottish Office delivering projects of £1-10m for the mobile telecoms operators. Programme management, analysis, and client reporting, as well as full office management for the new Scotland Team.

I held key account management roles for this young company developing and delivering new media solutions for sports NGBsClients included: BUSA, England Basketball, Millennium Commonwealth Youth Games 2000, Scottish CricketBritsport.com was acquired by iSportUK in 2001, and Ruth transferred to become head of this Australian business's UK arm. Ruth also worked as a project consultant with InterClubNet PLC in this period.
