I am a Senior Associate and Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) specialising in Employment law at Eversheds Sutherland International, with many years' experience monitoring legal developments ahead of the curve. I also specialise in Employment law as it affects Financial Services and the interaction between Employment Law and the FCA & PRA's regulatory requirements for staff.My main focuses are writing legal updates and resources for clients and the press (and facilitating opportunities for Employment lawyers) in the fast-changing area of Employment law; maintaining awareness of legal developments affecting employment law and financial services; and providing legal Know How training and precedent documents to lawyers. I have a particular interest in data protection/UK GDPR from an Employment law & HR perspective and was the driving force for this with the GDPR's implementation in 2018, producing advice, compliant documents, templates and guidance for lawyers and their clients, particularly in relation to staff and job applicant privacy notices, and Appropriate Policy Documents under the Data Protection Act 2018.At Blake Morgan I briefed and trained both clients and the cross-office team of Employment Lawyers on the latest updates, providing them with new resources and precedents. I was one of the first ever PSLs at Blake Lapthorn, the first to be promoted to Associate whilst in a PSL role and the only Employment PSL prior to the merger creating Blake Morgan. I worked remotely from Spain for 4 years (2007-2011), showing my ability to keep closely in touch with colleagues and clients. I was also responsible for all content and template policies, letters and documents on Blake Morgan's Employment law HR Support subscription service for clients (https://www.blakemorgan.co.uk/service/vigil/). Its website service of resources under a fixed-fee Employment advice retainer was written by me to complement clients’ documentation and contracts. As well as my PSL duties, I acted for clients drafting contracts and relevant employment documents. I also presented at legal updates and live webinars.My regularly updated article on the COVID-19 Furlough scheme came top in Google searches for many months.I take pride in interpreting the more complex aspects of legal developments and legislation as they arise and turning them into practical, understandable advice for clients and business development tools for lawyers. I am a regular contributor to discussions with a network of other Employment PSLs in predominantly City and large regional firms.
