Based on the best available evidence, it will make recommendations on the clinical use of endothelin inhibitor drugs, and future research in the area.As principal investigator funded by a Health Research Board grant, I brought together a team of four authors, and initiated contact with other stakeholders including pharmaceutical companies and statisticians. I was also responsible to manage the budget for travel, training and other expenses. My review includes the statistical method of proportional odds logistic regression, though this is not a standard tool for Cochrane reviews. Following discussions with clinicians and statisticians on meta-analysis of tumour response data, I decided this method was the most appropriate one. I presented a poster to facilitate discussion of the topic at the 8th Annual Cochrane in Ireland Conference. The protocol detailing the scope and methods of the review has been published, and the full review is in preparation. Show less

These included clinicians, scientists, nurses, and information technology experts from the Trinity Centre for High Performance Computing, particularly during the development of the Consortium’s innovative biobank information management system. This experience has provided me with strong communication skills with professionals within and beyond my own field.During my laboratory research, I worked with a wide range of molecular and cell biology techniques, including standard cell culture, three-dimensional cell culture using Matrigel, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, high-throughput analysis, drug treatment, and protein detection. I worked independently through experimental design, optimisation, writing SOPs, validation, analysis, statistics, interpretation, and reporting results. My laboratory experience has enhanced my strong problem-solving abilities, and my capacity to learn is demonstrated by the range of basic and advanced laboratory techniques I have acquired, as well as my academic record. I supervised several postgraduate students, training them individually in good laboratory practice, experimental techniques, analysis, scientific writing and thesis presentation. As administrator of a core cell culture facility for five years, I took responsibility for ensuring that it was maintained to a high standard appropriate for quality research. This involved training new staff, delegating equipment maintenance among facility users, developing and updating guidelines, and ensuring compliance with them. Serving as a Genetically Modified Organisms Health and Safety officer in my institution for five years, I was responsible for liaising between regulatory bodies and various departments within my institution, informing myself of relevant Irish and European legislation, and writing reports.
