East Arnhem, Northern Territory, Australia

Responsible for the strategic and operational leading of a large not-for-profit base with 7 light aircraft, in remote Northern Australia, serving the indigenous people living in community. Leadership of multi-cultural international team with 120+ members, spread across 4+ remote communities, and responsible for development, management and delivery of $3m+ complex annual budget. Additional responsibilities included facilities management for 19 homes, 2 hangars, and 11 vehicles. I successfully led significant a formal resizing of the Programme to restore financial health and team focus, and managed the programme response to COVID-19 pandemic, positioning services as essential to local needs. I also led the development of 5 Year Strategic Plan, Ministry Plan, and Business Case for additional financial investment, icluding the purchase of a new plane.

Glasgow, United Kingdom

I lead our Scotland team, bringing strategic planning and development to our supporter comms, income growth, capacity development, training and sustainability. My real focus is on enabling our excellent team to be the very best they can be, and serve our Scottish base with passion and professionalism, whilst insuring a strong link with our UK office in England. I also sit on the Scottish Government Humanitarian Emergency Fund (HEF) Panel, and form the link with our international emergency response operations around the world.

Glasgow

I was responsible for developing and supporting strategic partnerships and networks across Scotland to help sustain the work of Tearfund internationally. This included partnerships with individuals and investors, trusts and foundations, corporate businesses, large public institutions, and professional business groups. I organised and led group trips to visit field work in several developing countries including Ethiopia, Lebanon, Jordan, and Cambodia.I represented Tearfund on the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) in Scotland, providing the opportunity to speak to the press during PJAs; and I attended certain Scottish Government discussions on behalf of the organisation.

Responsible for chairing the Board of Directors for the national youth work organisation in Scotland, based in Edinburgh. This role is primarily concerned with good governance, as well as insuring adherence to legal requirements, representation at a senior level, supporting the CEO and senior staff, liaising with the Personnel and Finance sub-group, and chairing the AGM.

I took on the management of CYP at a time when the project had been dormant and without staff or programs for 6 months. During my time as manager the staff team grew to 9, with multiple successful projects running simultaneously, national recognition for excellence in delivery and outcomes, and around £2million in secured funding. Tasks included: fundraising, managing a complex and diverse budget, evaluation, staff management, network development, strategic management, marketing, IT, trustee reporting, developing a flagship project.

Scotland

Responsible for developing and managing a brand new program within the organisation, the purpose of which was to inspire young people to succeed, and fit them with the knowledge and experience necessary to successfully enter the job market or transition to further or higher education once completing high school. This program was initially delivered to young people already within the organisation, but on my initiative and partnership development, it became embedded in the local high school as part of the alternative curriculum for marginalised and vulnerable students.

Guyana, South America

Responsible for the purchase, development, and managing a new children’s home for orphaned and abandoned children in Guyana, South America. Travelling alone, I lived and worked with the local community and church.Tasks included:•Identifying, purchasing, and renovating a suitable building•Working with local leaders (community and church) to develop a suitable facility, staffed by local people•Running the budget, including paying staff and dealing with local tradesmen•Developed procedures for identifying and welcoming children to the home•Hired staff•Organised an opening day/ceremony that included the President of Guyana as the guest of honour•Worked directly with the children, and managed the facility once completed
