Ruth is a senior associate in the Dispute Resolution team at Geldards, dealing with both contentious and non-contentious corporate and personal insolvency, including advice on re-structuring options. She obtained a degree in Psychology before completing the Graduate Diploma in Law at Nottingham Law School, qualifying as a solicitor in September 2007.Ruth spends most of her time away from the office singing and is a former member of both the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and the Grammy award-winning chamber choir Laudibus. She currently sings with the choir of St Mary’s, High Pavement, Nottingham and the Birmingham-based chamber choir Ex Cathedra. Her discography includes various beautiful and interesting recordings that no-one has ever heard of, an album that everyone thought was rubbish but that inexplicably reached number one in the classical charts, and backing vocals for Cradle of Filth’s 2006 album “Thornography”.Main areas of work include:1. advising individuals and companies in financial difficulties on options;2. advising directors on duties and responsibilities; 3. advising Insolvency Practitioners on all aspects of insolvency matters;4. business sales and purchases out of insolvency;5. pursuing antecedent transactions such as preferences, undervalues and wrongful trading;6. asset recovery and preservation including retention of title and bankruptcy property realisation.Ruth has been on the committee of the R3 East Midlands Women's Group since 2011 and took over as co-chair in April 2024.
