Thesis succesfully defended in december 2015.Result: my main contribution was setting up FRET as a new technique for our group.Technical skills: General molecular biology techniques, time lapse fluorescence microscopy to study single bacterial cells, microarray transcriptomics.- Skills: project management. Continuously searching for information related to my projects. I like to keep learning during my career.Research topics:- During my PhD-project I have studied the dynamic interaction of a protein-protein pair (CcpA HPr) in the bacterium Bacillus subtilis. This interaction is crucial for the regulation of carbon metabolism genes and to make sure that cells use the available energy in an efficient way.- Furthermore, I have studied the function of CcpA, the regulator protein for efficient use of nutrients, in more detail. This was done by making single amino acid point mutations and checking how this affects gene regulation on the whole genome level.- I also examined if an isogenic culture responds homogeneously or heterogeneously to an osmotic upshift. Therefore, a promoter-GFP fusion and time-lapse fluorescence microscopy was used.- Result : setting up FRET as a new technique for our group.
