Robert Wright is the Vice President of Genesis In-Home Care, an organization supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Metro-Detroit. Robert’s leadership has been a focal point in developing the organization from a startup company to a dynamic and seasoned organization. Robert leads, guides and directs the contributions of other leaders within Genesis. He is passionate about enhancing the lives of those with disabilities, giving the marginalized a voice and developing his team around him. Robert is a Certified Mentor in A Culture of Gentleness, a philosophy of care rooted in teaching people to feel safe, loved, loving of others and engaged in their community. Robert formulates and implements meaningful initiatives and changes that have permitted Genesis to manage growth and navigate through industry changes. Robert has been an honored guest presenter at the Michigan Culture of Gentleness Conference, the Gentle Teaching International Conference and the Raising The Bar Interdisciplinary Conference presenting on the topics of leadership, teamwork and change.In addition to his work with Genesis, Robert volunteers much of his time. He is also an amateur boxing coach, fundraiser and organizer for Azteca Youth Enrichment. Robert has helped Azteca to fundraise money through various campaigns which have allowed the organization to purchase new equipment, fund travel expenses and support daily operations. He also wrote a grant proposal to the Brooksie Way Foundation which Azteca was granted. Robert was an amateur boxer himself and benefited from Azteca’s program and works to carry on the impact Azteca has on the community. Also, in 2018 Robert was an ambassador for the Real Men Wear Pink of Oakland County, raising money and awareness for breast cancer initiatives. Robert spent October (breast cancer awareness month) uniquely outfitted in pink each day, sharing pictures on social media and soliciting fundraising dollars. Oakland County's Real Men Wear Pink Ambassadors were the number two fundraisers in the nation that year. Robert was honored as a member of the Oakland County Executive Elite 40 Under 40 class of 2018. L. Brooks Patterson honored him for his dynamic leadership and the impact he has made on the community around him.
