As a career Fire Fighter Ryan brings many years of fire fighting experience to the fire engineering and building approval process. Ryan was promoted to the rank of Station Officer in 2008 and currently holds the position of Building Approval Officer with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service.Graduate Certificate in Performance Based Building and Fire Codes from Victoria University to his emergency management and fire fighting qualifications.Through his role as a Building Approval Officer with QFES he has worked on within the limits of legislated jurisdiction (in assessment and inspection capability) jobs ranging from Stadiums, large shopping centres, unit complexes, high rise buildings and small retail and office fit outs.

Townsville

Transferred to Townsville at the end of 2007 and was stationed at various times at all stations within the Townsville area. I moved into the Community Safety Unit of the QFRS in 2008.

Ingham

I started my career in the QFRS in the country town of Ingham, North Queensland. I attended a variety of incidents including chemical incidents, motor vehicle accidents, wildfires , structural fires and for something different the capture and relocation of snakes. During my time in Ingham I Represented the QFRS on the local traffic management committee and chaired the wildfire committee. While stationed in Ingham I obtained the rank of Senior Firefighter and frequently acted in the position of Station Officer. I attended many building inspections and it is here I developed my interest in building fire safety.
