Every two years a select group of agriculturists is chosen to participate in the Young Farmers and Ranchers Leadership Group. The program is designed to prepare the next generation of farmers and ranchers with the leadership and confidence to represent agriculture at the local, state and national level. It focuses on personal growth, public speaking, media training, legislative awareness, issue advocacy and service leadership.

Coordinate fruit from the southern FL growing region, which is one of the most important growing regions in Florida . The fruit managed is approximately 10% of all Tropicana Florida fruit and has a value of over $30 million per year.Grower relations activities: Work directly with fruit supplier's grove representative and harvesting representatives, or with the grower directly to assure the most accurate and timely information is available to Tropicana. Evaluate grove and tree condition, care-taking practices, harvest preferences, and other factors of importance to Tropicana.Crop Estimation: Estimate individual contracts at the grove and block level for volume and variety. Update estimates at regular intervals throughout the harvest season. Communicate estimate information to management for fruit buying decisions. Accurate and timely revision of fruit volume estimates is critical for Tropicana Fruit Procurement management to implement changes in the annual procurement agenda. Harvest Planning: Prior to the season start up will coordinate with managers to determine the location of fruit under contract and develop a plan for movement of that fruit so as to minimize any haul allowances. The haul allowance budget, typically about $1.5 million per year, is one area of potential savings.Crop Security: Must remain current on laws and regulations relating to pests, diseases such as citrus canker, greening, citrus black spot, etc., and harvesting and hauling procedures. In addition he must monitor harvest against expected volumes to assure that only the fruit, and all of the fruit, contracted by Tropicana is delivered as required by the contract. He must understand contract terms with respect to deliveries; fruit swaps, fresh market options, etc., and assure that the contract terms are followed

Maximize sales/gross profit through improved product knowledge and attention to detail. Maintain team concept to improve associate morale, communication, and working conditions.Assist with inventory.Maintain close communication with all appropriate support staff.Maintain constant awareness of inventory on hand and movement of product.Demonstrate and support a high level of integrity. Represent Freshfields Farm in a courteous and professional manner while interacting with all vendors, customers, and coworkers.Partner with other leadership to train, develop, and hold team accountable through proper execution of all necessary corrective action.Open and close the department as required.Carry out the duties of other supervisors in their absence as required. Receive and inspect product from delivery trucks and adhere to the company’s protocols and procedures to ensure quality standards for our customers.
