Aviation Electronics Technician/Work Center Supervisor
Responsible for the calibration and repair of the Navy's electronic/mechanical test equipment and avionics, including: navigational equipment, RADAR, TACAN, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, microwave counters, and frequency generators. Acquired proficiency in the areas of electronics theory, electronics troubleshooting, RF fundamentals and wave propagation, AC/DC circuits, integrated circuits, microprocessors, semi-conductors, and analog/digital devices. Attained significant experience in leadership and operations of a high-tech environment.Accomplishments:• Subject Matter Expert: electronics troubleshooting. Troubleshot and repaired Jet Engine Test Facility and Digital Data Simulator; repaired three Broad Arrow assets: Sonar Set Test Bench and two T-700 Aircraft Engine Test Stands saving the Navy $274,850 in replacement costs• Directly supervised 8 technicians; leadership vital to work center receiving tenth and eleventh consecutive Measure Excellence Awards• Conducted weekly training on electronics theory and advanced troubleshooting techniques• Participated in Lean/Six Sigma Continuous Process Improvement event reducing departmental qualification time for new sailors from one year to 90 days• Reduced turn around time of calibrated items from average of seven days to three• Designated Collateral Duty Inspector (Quality Assurance representative) as an E4, traditionally held for E5 and above; performed quality control inspections/supervision for 22 technicians• Hand picked to assume responsibilities of on-site calibration duties of mission critical equipment for 23 squadrons
